Siva Rice Traders

Siva Rice Traders is based at 86 Cumbum Road in the Nrt Nagar area. Because it is on a busy road, there is almost always a lot of noise from the cars and motorcycles passing by. We mostly handle different types of rice and the shop always smells like raw grain and old burlap. We have been working out of this same building for a very long time now. It isn't a modern place with glass windows or air conditioning. Instead, we have a wide open entrance that makes it easy to move the heavy bags of rice in and out all day long. Most of our time is spent weighing out orders and talking with customers about which rice is best for what they need. Some people want the older rice for special occasions, while others just want something simple for their daily meals. We don't use any kind of polished sales talk here. We just show people what we have in the sacks and tell them what the price is. The walls have some marks and scratches from where the bags have been stacked up over the years. It gives the shop a bit of a worn-in look. We have a small wooden desk in one corner where we keep our ledgers and do the bookkeeping by hand. Nrt Nagar is a good spot for us. We see everyone from local restaurant owners to families who have lived here for generations.
