Sakthi Exports

Our place is at No. 5-6/158a on the Karaikudi Road in Singampunari. It’s a bit of a drive to get out here, but it’s where we do everything for Sakthi Exports. The road gets quite busy with buses and lorries passing by. You can hear them shifting gears as they go up the slight incline. Inside, it’s mostly just storage space and a small area where we keep the books. We don't have air conditioning, so we keep the big doors open to let the breeze in. It brings in some dust, but that’s just how it is. We spend our days sorting through items and making sure they are ready for the long trip. It’s a lot of lifting and moving crates. My cousin helps me with the loading. We usually have a radio playing in the background, mostly old songs. It helps the time pass when we’re doing repetitive tasks. Singampunari is a decent place to work. People around here are friendly enough. We don't spend money on fancy signs or advertising. We just rely on the fact that we've been here for a while and people know where to find us. Sometimes we stay late if a shipment is running behind. We just turn on the overhead lights and keep at it until the job is done for the night. It’s tiring, but it’s honest work that pays the bills for everyone involved.
