Manikandan Hair Designer

You can find our shop, Manikandan Hair Designer, over in Meenakshi Nagar in the Vilangudi area of Madurai. We are located right near where the old Pandiyan Theater used to be, which is a spot almost everyone around here knows. It’s a simple place with a few mirrors on the walls and those old-style barber chairs that have seen a lot of use. We mostly do basic haircuts and shaves for the men and boys in the neighborhood. There isn't anything fancy about the shop. We have a small television in the corner that’s usually on a news channel or showing a movie. People come in and wait their turn on the bench, often chatting about what’s happening in town. Madurai is known for being very hot, so we have a couple of fans spinning all day to keep the air moving. The floor is always getting covered in hair, but we try to keep it swept up between customers. We’ve been at this 625018 address for a long time now. Some of the people who started coming here as kids are now bringing their own children in. We don't take appointments or have a website. You just walk in and if a chair is empty, you sit down. We stay open until late at night because that’s when most workers have time to stop by. It’s just a normal neighborhood shop where everyone feels welcome to sit and talk.
