K M C Flour Mills

We've been here at 45 Vilangudi for quite some time now. People around Alanganallur Main Road know where to find us. It's a busy spot but we manage. My family started this because people need good flour for their daily cooking. We spend most of our days listening to the machines run. It's loud, but that's how it goes in a mill. We take the grain and process it right here on the premises. Some days are busier than others, especially before festivals when everyone is baking. We don't have a big office or anything fancy. Just the mill and the bags waiting to be picked up. Sometimes the dust gets everywhere, no matter how much we sweep. It's hard work, keeping the rollers adjusted and making sure the texture is right for the local shops. We mostly deal with the regulars who have been coming to us for years. They just drop by, say hello, and get what they need. We don't really do much advertising because word of mouth in Vilangudi is usually enough. If you’re driving down the main road, you’ll probably see the trucks out front loading up. It's a simple operation, really. Just us and the grain. We keep the machines maintained as best as we can so things don't break down at the wrong time. It isn't a glamorous job, but it’s what we know how to do. The neighborhood has changed a bit, but we’re still here doing the same thing.
