Zoie Kurtis

Over here in Sohan Singh Nagar, Ludhiana, things are always moving. We run Zoie Kurtis. It’s a practical setup for us. We deal mostly with kurtis, which is what most women around here are looking for. Ludhiana is known for its textiles, so there’s a lot of competition on every corner, but we just focus on our own work. The shop isn't very big at all, and we use every inch of wall space for storage. We spend hours checking the stitching and making sure the sizes are what they say they are. It’s a lot of manual work. We don't have a fancy website or a marketing team. It’s just us and the clothes. Sometimes the neighbors come by for a chat and a cup of tea. The area 141002 has a lot of small businesses like ours. You can hear the sounds of the city and the factories all day. We start our day early and then get to the stacks of fabric. Packing orders for the week takes up most of our afternoons. We try to keep things honest. If something isn't right, we just try to fix it. It’s a simple way to run a business. We don't use big words or make big promises to anyone. We just show up every day and do the work. The weather changes, the seasons change, but the demand for a good kurti stays pretty steady. We’re glad to be a part of the Ludhiana community. It’s a tough city but a good one to work in.
