Sonia Sewing Machine

Our little shop is tucked away in the Ajit Palaces Lane, over in Basti Jodhewal on Ra Road. It’s a bit of a maze back here if you aren't familiar with the lanes. We’ve been here at Sonia Sewing Machine for a long time. Our space is packed with all sorts of models, from the old manual ones to some of the newer electric types. We do a lot of maintenance work. People from the neighborhood bring in their machines when the timing gets off or a part breaks. We have drawers full of bobs, feet, and screws that we’ve collected over the years. It’s a small family-run type of place. We don't have a big sign or any bright lights. Usually, the door is open and you can hear someone testing a machine inside. We talk to a lot of tailors and hobbyists every day. It’s interesting to hear about the projects they’re working on. Sometimes we have to hunt for parts for the really old machines, which takes some time. We don't mind the slow pace of the lane. It gives us a chance to focus on the repairs. We usually take a tea break around four in the afternoon when things quiet down. If you're looking for us, just ask around the Ajit Palaces area, someone will point you the right way. We are just here doing our thing and helping people keep sewing.
