Our workshop is tucked into the Super Cycle Market. We are right opposite Kwality Dharam Kanda on Gill Road in Ludhiana. This whole area is always loud with the sound of trucks and heavy machinery moving around. We work with steel every day. It is not clean work. Your hands and clothes stay dirty from the metal dust and oil. We make various things out of steel, from gates to small custom parts. The welding machine is always going, and you see those bright blue sparks flying. You really have to wear your safety gear or the light will hurt your eyes. Chet Singh Nagar is a very busy industrial part of the city. There is always someone loading or unloading something heavy nearby. We have grinders and cutters that make a lot of noise. You just get used to it after a while. We do not have a fancy office or a place to sit and have tea. Most of the talking happens right on the shop floor over the noise. It is honest, hard work. We spend a lot of time measuring and making sure the cuts are straight. The steel pieces are heavy to move around. It is just a small group of us working here. We start when the sun comes up to get a head start on the heat. By the afternoon, the shed gets really warm. We just keep our heads down and finish the orders. That is how it goes.
