We are located in Janta Nagar. It’s a busy part of the city. Singh Knitting Machines Inds has been around here for quite a while. The workshop is filled with the sound of clicking needles and metal sliding. We work on knitting machines, both old and new ones. There are parts everywhere. Tiny screws, long needles, and springs are kept in little plastic bins. It’s a bit overwhelming if you aren't used to it. We spend our days hunched over the machines, making adjustments. It takes a lot of patience. Sometimes a machine just won't behave and you have to spend hours figuring out why the thread is snapping. We don’t have a big corporate structure. It’s mostly family and a few workers who have been with us for years. We drink tea together in the afternoon. Janta Nagar is always loud with other workshops doing their own thing, so we fit right in. We don’t do much advertising. People in the knitting trade just know where to find us. Our floor is always covered in a bit of oil and metal dust. We clean it up on Saturdays. It’s a steady life. We like the work because it requires you to use your hands and your brain. We don’t have any fancy talk about the future. We just make sure the machines we work on are running right before they leave the shop.
