Shivam Sweet House

We’ve been running Shivam Sweet House on Basant Avenue in Kanch Pada for some time. It's a busy corner and there is always something going on outside. Inside, it stays pretty warm because of the stoves running all day long. We start early to get the first batches ready before the morning rush. The shelves are mostly filled with whatever we finished cooking that hour. It’s a plain shop, nothing special to look at, but it serves the purpose. We see a lot of people from the neighborhood coming through. Some are in a hurry and others stay to chat for a minute while we pack their bags. The floor gets a bit sticky sometimes, so we are always mopping. We try to keep things moving so no one has to wait too long in the heat. It’s a family-run kind of place, so you’ll see us arguing about where to put a tray or who needs to go buy more sugar. We don't use any fancy machines, mostly just our hands and big ladles. Kanch Pada is a lively area and we are glad to be tucked into this spot on Basant Avenue. We just keep our heads down and do the work. It’s not a glamorous job, but it pays the bills and keeps us busy. Sometimes we close a bit early if we run out of stock, but usually we stay until the street lights come on. It's just what we do every day.
