Madan Gopal & Sons

Our shop, Madan Gopal & Sons, is situated right on G.T. Road, directly opposite the Jagraon Bridge. It is a very busy spot because the bridge is a major landmark and there is always a lot of traffic passing by. We have been in this same location for generations. It is a family business that started with my grandfather, and we have just kept it going. The building is quite old and you can feel the history when you walk inside. We don't have any modern decorations or a fancy storefront. We mostly have shelves filled with the various items we sell and a simple counter where we talk to the customers. Because we are right on the main road, it gets very dusty and noisy with all the trucks and buses going past. Sometimes the traffic is so thick that it takes a long time just to cross the street. We don't do any marketing or online sales. Most of our customers are locals who have been coming to us for years. We like the face-to-face part of the business best. We drink a lot of tea and talk to whoever comes through the door. It is a very traditional way of doing things, and we aren't looking to change it. We just open up every morning and see what the day brings. It is a steady, simple life here on G.T. Road and we are happy with that.
