Shine Knitters

Our place, Shine Knitters, is located at 3090/3 Sunder Nagar, right in the middle of the New Cloth Market area. If you’ve ever been to this part of Ludhiana, you know how crowded it gets with all the rickshaws and people moving bundles of fabric. Our shop is just one of many, but we’ve been here long enough that we feel like part of the furniture. Inside, it’s mostly the sound of the knitting machines running, which can get quite loud if you’re not used to it. There is always a layer of lint in the air and stacks of finished cloth waiting to be moved out. We don’t have any big signs or flashy displays because most people who come here already know what they are looking for. It’s a lot of repetitive work, watching the needles and making sure the yarn doesn’t snap, but it’s what we know. The lighting isn't great, and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but it doesn't really affect the quality of the fabric we put out. We usually have a tea break around four, and that’s about the only time the machines go quiet for a bit. It’s an honest way to make a living, even if it is a bit dusty and loud most of the time. We just focus on the orders we have and try to get them finished on time.
