Sharma Confectory

If you find yourself on Gandhi Road in Janta Nagar, you’ll likely pass by Sharma Confectory. It’s a small place, but we keep it filled with all kinds of snacks and sweets. We have the usual glass jars filled with colorful toffees that the school kids love. Then there are the biscuits, chips, and cold drinks in the fridge at the back. It’s a busy little corner of Janta Nagar. I started this shop because I wanted something of my own, and it’s been going okay so far. The shelves are a bit crowded and sometimes I forget where I put the new stock of juice boxes. My wife comes in during the evenings to help out when the office crowd is heading home. They usually want a quick snack or some bread for the next morning. Gandhi Road is always noisy, but you get used to it. We don't have any fancy decorations, just some old posters on the walls and a steady fan to keep the heat away. People come in for a chat as much as they do for the groceries. We know who likes which brand of tea and who is looking for a specific type of namkeen. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s ours. We keep the shop clean as best as we can, though dust from the road always finds its way in. It’s just a regular part of our daily life here.
