Shankar Sweet House

Our shop is at number 461 in Meena Bazar, over in the Dugri area. It is a very busy market, so there is always a lot of shouting and noise outside our door. We make traditional sweets every single day in the back room. We have these huge iron pans that stay on the heat for hours, so it gets quite hot and humid inside. We are a family business, nothing fancy or corporate about it. We just sell the sweets that we put in the glass display cases every morning. People from the nearby houses come in when they need a box for a birthday or just because they want something sweet after dinner. We try our best to keep everything as fresh as we can. The floor gets a bit sticky from the sugar syrup, even though we try to clean it all the time. My uncle was the one who started this place a long time ago, and I have just kept it going. We don't have a big menu with lots of options. We just stick to the things we know how to make well. Sometimes we sell out of the popular items by four in the afternoon, especially on holidays. It is a lot of standing around and waiting for customers, but we have lived here our whole lives and we know everyone who walks by. It is just a regular life in the bazar.
