S K Machinery Mart is situated over in Janta Nagar, specifically on 5th Main at numbers 89 and 90. We’ve occupied this space for quite some time, and it’s filled from floor to ceiling with all sorts of mechanical parts and hardware. If you’re looking for a specific bolt or a replacement gear for a small industrial machine, there’s a good chance it’s buried somewhere in one of our bins. The shop isn't exactly laid out like a modern supermarket; you usually have to ask us where things are. It’s a bit of a maze, but we know where everything is kept. Most of our customers are local workers or small shop owners from around the area who need something fixed quickly so they can get back to work. We spend a lot of time looking through catalogs or checking the back storage for old stock that someone might need. The floor is concrete and can get quite cold in the winter months, but the tea we get from the stall next door helps. We aren’t big on fancy displays. We just put the items on the shelves and hope they’re what people are looking for. It’s a practical kind of place. We open the shutters early and usually head home once the street lights come on. It’s just steady, daily work for us here in the machinery market.
