Paras Traders

Our shop, Paras Traders, is located at Shop No. 10 in Sukhmani Tower. This is right at Kochar Market Chowk, so it’s a very busy spot. There is always noise from the traffic and people shouting across the street. We’ve been here long enough that we don’t even notice the honking anymore. The shop itself is pretty small, but we make use of every inch of space we have. We keep our inventory stacked up high on the shelves. Most days involve a lot of lifting and moving things around to find what a customer wants. It’s practical work. Sukhmani Tower is an older building, and sometimes the lights flicker, but it’s home for us during the day. We usually start the morning by checking what sold the day before and seeing what needs to be restocked. It’s a lot of manual counting and writing in our books. We get our tea from the guy on the corner every afternoon. It’s a bit of a ritual for us. We aren't trying to be the biggest or the best, just a reliable shop where you can find what you need. The floor gets dirty from all the foot traffic, so someone is always sweeping. We know the other shopkeepers around the chowk and we look out for each other. When it rains, the water puddles up right outside our door, so we have to be careful. It’s a plain and simple business, and we like it that way.
