New Janta Model High School

If you head down Street Number 3 in the Focal Point area of Ludhiana, you’ll find us at Plot Number 7102. It’s an industrial part of town, so there is always a lot of movement and noise around the school. We have a solid building that has stood through many winters and summers. Inside, the hallways are narrow and the classrooms are filled with wooden benches that have been used by many generations of students. We don't have many fancy gadgets or high-tech labs. Instead, we have teachers who know every student by name and parents who drop by whenever they have a concern. The morning assembly happens right out front, and even with the sounds of the factories nearby, we get things done. Sometimes the dust from the road gets inside, so we are always cleaning the floors and the window sills. It's a busy atmosphere. During the breaks, the kids are everywhere, playing with whatever they can find in the small open area we have. We try to keep the gates shut tight because of all the trucks passing by outside. It's just a local school trying to provide a place for the neighborhood kids to sit down and read their books. Nothing more, nothing less. We deal with power cuts and leaky taps just like any other building in this part of Ludhiana. It's a lot of manual work to keep everything running, but we've been doing it for a long time now.
