National Metals

National Metals is located at 452/a, Old Oswal Street, just off Gill Road. It’s an old part of the city, and you can tell by the buildings. The street is narrow, and when a big truck comes through, everyone has to pull their stuff back inside. Our place is full of metal—sheets, rods, scraps, you name it. It smells like iron and oil most of the time. The floor is stained dark from years of work. We’ve got an old desk in the corner where we keep the ledger. It’s all hand-written because that’s just how we’ve always done it. My hands are usually a bit gray from the metal by lunch time. We take our breaks sitting on the wooden crates near the door so we can see who’s passing by. Gill Road is always humming with activity, even late into the evening. We don’t have a fancy showroom. What you see is what you get. We’ve been at 452/a for as long as I can remember. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just wait it out or work by the light from the street. It’s tough work, but it’s honest. We don’t use big words or try to act like something we aren't. We just know our metal and we do our jobs day in and day out. It is a messy job but someone has to do it.
