Aay Ess Castings

We are located down on Sua Road in Industrial Area C, right near East Man Impex in Dhandari Kalan. This part of town is always covered in a bit of grit, which I guess is just what happens when you’re in the casting business. At Aay Ess Castings, the foundry is a place where things are always moving, mostly sand and metal and molds. It’s a very physical job. You spend your day on your feet, and the heat from the furnaces is something you never really get used to, even after all these years. We make all sorts of parts, pouring the liquid metal into the sand molds and waiting for them to cool down. It’s a messy process, and there’s always a layer of black dust on everything. I keep my books in a little shed that serves as an office, but even there, the dust finds its way in. We have a crew that’s been doing this for a long time, so they know the rhythm of the pours. Sometimes the molds break or the metal doesn't set right, and you just have to do it all over again. There’s no shortcutting it. We aren't doing anything high-tech, just basic foundry work like it's been done for decades. It's a long day, usually starting before the sun is fully up, but that’s the way we’ve always done it here on Sua Road.
