Mohinder Confectionery

Started the day early at Mohinder Confectionery. Civil Line is usually quiet in the morning but picks up later. We have these glass jars on the counters. They get fingerprints on them and I have to wipe them down pretty often. Most people around here know where we are. It’s not a big place but it holds everything we need to sell. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the street outside for a few minutes. I usually just stand by the door and watch the cars go by when it’s slow. The shelves have all sorts of biscuits and sweets. Some of the boxes are stacked a bit crooked. It doesn't really matter as long as they stay up. People from the neighborhood come in for small things, maybe a pack of something for tea. We keep the floor swept, though dust always finds its way in from the road. The light inside is a bit yellow. It makes the place feel warm in the winter. I spend a lot of time counting stock or just tidying up the wrappers that fall. There is a small stool behind the counter where I sit when my legs get tired. The clock on the wall is five minutes fast, but I never bothered to fix it. It helps me get things closed up on time in the evening. Civil Line feels like home after all these years. Just a regular spot for regular folks who want a snack.
