You can find us at 511 Lakkar Bazar in the Naya Mohalla area. We are quite close to Saban Bazar, so there is always a lot of foot traffic and scooters zooming by. The streets here are narrow, and sometimes it's a bit of a struggle to get deliveries in and out. The shop itself is packed with items from floor to ceiling. We don’t have much room for a proper waiting area, so people usually just stand by the counter while we look for what they need. My brother and I run the place mostly. It’s a lot of reaching for heavy boxes and checking lists. The lighting inside isn't the best, but we know where everything is kept. Even when it’s raining outside, the market stays busy. We’ve had this spot for a long time, and the wooden shelves have started to sag a little under the weight of the inventory. We don't use a computer for everything; a lot of our notes are still kept in big ledger books. It feels more natural that way. Lunch is usually eaten in the back room while listening to the noise of the market outside. The tea guy comes around 10 am and that’s usually when we take a short break to talk about the news or the weather. It gets really humid in the monsoon months, which makes the wood smell even stronger. It’s not a glamorous job, but it keeps us busy from morning until late evening. Sometimes the neighbors come by just to chat for a bit.
