Krishan Sewing Machine Co sits right on the Lakkar Bazar Main Road. It’s a very busy street with a lot of people passing by every minute. Our shop is full of different sewing machines, some new and a lot of old ones that we’re fixing up. There are parts and bobs and metal bits scattered all over the counters most days. We’ve been here in Lakkar Bazar for many years, and we’ve seen the area change quite a bit. People come in with their machines wrapped in old cloth, looking for a quick repair or just some oil. We spend a lot of time oiling gears and replacing needles that have snapped. It’s a dusty place because of all the wood shops nearby in Lakkar Bazar, so we are always wiping down the machines before someone picks them up. We don't have any big advertisements or flashy signs. People just know we are on the Main Road because we've been there so long. Sometimes the shop gets so full of machines that there’s hardly any room to walk around, and you have to step over boxes. We just do the work and talk to the customers who come in for a chat. Most of the time it’s just the sound of the foot pedals being tested or the whirring of a motor. It’s a simple life and we like being part of the market here. If you come by, you’ll find us with a screwdriver in hand, just working.
