K.P High School is right there on Noorwala Road in the New Basant Vihar area of Ludhiana. It’s a busy neighborhood with a lot of shops and houses packed close together. The school itself is a multi-story building that sits right on the edge of the street. In the mornings, the whole street gets quite jammed with parents dropping off their kids on scooters and bicycles. You can hear the school bell ringing all the way down the block at eight o'clock. We have students from the local area mostly. The hallways are a bit narrow and you have to be careful when the kids are moving between classes. We have a small office on the ground floor where we handle all the admissions and daily paperwork. There’s a lot of old registers piled up on the desks. The classrooms have wooden benches that have been there for many years. Some of them have scratches and marks from the kids. We have a small terrace where sometimes the older students go for their PT classes or other activities. It’s not a huge campus with a football field or a running track, but we make use of every bit of space we have. The teachers spend their lunch breaks sitting together talking about the curriculum or just the daily news. It’s a typical Ludhiana school where things are always a bit loud and fast-paced. We keep the main gate locked during school hours to keep things safe and the noise out.
