K.B. Engineering Works

K.B. Engineering Works is tucked away at 271/2 in Industrial Area-A. This part of the city is purely for work, so there aren't many shops or parks around here. It is just one factory after another. Our space is filled with machines and the various parts we are currently working on. There is a specific rhythm to the day, starting with turning on the power and checking what needs to be machined first. We aren't a big corporation with hundreds of employees. It’s a smaller crew where everyone knows what their job is. The floor is concrete and has seen a lot of wear over the years. We keep our tools on big racks against the walls, and there is always a search for a missing wrench or a specific bolt. Simple everyday tasks take up most of our time. We don’t spend much on advertising or trying to look bigger than we are. People in the area know us by the address 271/2. The air usually smells like cutting oil and metal shavings. Sometimes the electricity cuts out and we have to wait for the generator to kick in, which is just part of life in an industrial zone. We eat our lunch together in a small corner near the back window. It’s a plain, honest way to earn a living, focusing on engineering work and making sure the pieces fit together the way they should. Industrial Area-A is where we feel most at home.
