Krishna Engg. Works

Krishna Engg. Works is down here on Street Number 11 in Chet Singh Nagar, just off Radha Swani Road. It’s one of those narrow streets where you have to be careful if two cars are trying to pass each other. We’ve been in this neighborhood for a long time. The workshop is always humming with the sound of lathes and drills. It’s dusty, and there’s oil on the floor in some spots, but that’s just a machine shop for you. We don't have a sign that glows or anything, just a simple board above the door. Most of our customers are locals who have been coming to us for years. They know we’re usually here by 8 in the morning. My hands are usually stained with grease by 9. We don't do anything too complicated, just solid engineering work that people need. Sometimes we have to hunt around for a specific tool that someone misplaced, which can be frustrating, but we always find it eventually. The tea guy comes by twice a day, and that’s when we usually take a break and sit on the stools outside. It’s a basic life, but we like the work. There aren't many frills here, just some old machines and a few guys who know how to use them. We just take the orders as they come in and try to get them finished on time. We don't worry about much else besides the task at hand.
