Our office is over in Vinay Nagar, right near the Lamba Pind Chowk area. Most people find us by asking for Shiv Kumar’s place, as we share the space there. It’s a very industrial part of town, so there is always a lot of dust in the air and the sound of heavy trucks rumbling past on the main road. We handle a lot of steel here at Kay Emm Steelco, so you’ll see heaps of metal rods and sheets stacked up in the yard. It’s not a clean or quiet job. Your hands are usually covered in grit by the end of the day, and the sun beats down on the metal, making everything hot to the touch. We don't have any polished floors or air-conditioned waiting rooms. It’s just a yard and a small office where we keep the books and take orders. We spend our time talking to truck drivers and checking the weight of the loads going out. The Lamba Pind area is always busy, and there’s a lot of competition around, but we just focus on what we have in front of us. We take our lunch breaks together under the shade of a small tree in the corner of the lot. It’s simple, honest work, and we’ve been doing it this way for years. There aren't any big secrets to it, just showing up and moving the steel.
