Shanker Trading Co. is right in the middle of Mandi Kesar Ganj. If you have ever spent time in a Mandi, you know it is pure chaos from the moment the sun comes up. Our spot at 594/4 is usually surrounded by big sacks of goods and people looking to get a good deal. We have been trading here for years. It involves a lot of shouting and haggling, which is just the way things are done around here. I took over the business from my uncle, and honestly, the place hasn't changed much since he was in charge. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint and the ceiling fan makes a clicking noise that drives me crazy during the summer months. But we are used to it all. We deal with suppliers from all over the place, and sometimes the quality of what they send isn't what they promised on the phone. That leads to some long arguments in the afternoon. It is just part of the daily routine. We don't have a website, just our reputation in the market. Most of our customers are people we have known for decades. We drink a lot of tea and talk about the current market prices. It is a physical job, moving things around and checking the scales. By the time we lock the shutters, the whole place feels a bit quieter, but the dust never really settles down.
