K L Sharma & Sons is tucked away at 356/1 Lakkar Bazar. If you walk through the market, you can smell the cut wood from all the other shops nearby long before you see our sign. Our place is no different. It’s been in the family for quite a long time, and we mostly just keep our heads down and work on whatever orders come in during the week. The shop is a bit cramped because we have piles of wood and inventory stacked in every corner, and sometimes it's hard to find a clear spot to sit down. Lakkar Bazar is a very narrow place, so getting deliveries can be a real headache with the crowds and the small lanes. We don't really do much advertising. Most people who come here have known us for years or just happened to walk past the door while looking for something else. The floors are usually covered in a thin layer of sawdust by the end of the day, no matter how much we sweep it out. It’s just the nature of working with wood all day long. We don’t have a fancy showroom with bright lights; it’s just the raw materials and the tools we’ve always used. Sometimes the humidity makes the wood act up, so we have to be careful with how everything is stored in the back. It’s a simple life here, just making things and talking to the regulars.
