Jagtar Singh Embroidery Works

This is Jagtar Singh’s place over at 11709 Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar. We are on the street that runs parallel to the Cubbonpet Main Road. It is a bit tucked away, but once you find the right lane, we are easy to spot. We do embroidery work here. It’s a lot of sitting and focusing on small details on fabric. The machines make a rhythmic sound all day long. It's almost like a song if you listen to it long enough. We get all sorts of cloth coming through the door. Some for suits, some for curtains, and other things. Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar is a busy residential and commercial mix. I’ve lived and worked around here for years. My hands are usually busy with threads of all colors. The lighting in the shop has to be bright so we don’t miss a stitch. It’s not a fancy showroom. We have shelves stacked with rolls of thread and piles of fabric waiting to be worked on. Sometimes the Main Road gets blocked with traffic, so taking the parallel lanes is faster. I started this work because I like seeing the patterns come to life. It’s a quiet life mostly, just the sound of the needles. People from the neighborhood bring their stuff here. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who know the work well and keep the machines running through the week.
