Iskcon Steel Traders

Our shop, Iskcon Steel Traders, is located at Shop No. 65 on Gill Road. We are right in the middle of the Cycle Market, not too far from Tagore Colony. If you've ever been to this part of the city, you know how crowded and lively it is. There are bicycles and parts everywhere you look. We fit right in with our steel supplies. Most of the day is spent handling steel rods or flat sheets that the local manufacturers need. The noise of the market is something you just get used to after a week or two. We have a small space, so we have to be very careful about how we stack the heavy steel so nothing falls over. It’s a lot of manual lifting and moving things around by hand or with small trolleys. We don't use any big computer systems; we mostly write things down in our registers. Customers come in, tell us what they need, and we go find it in the back. Sometimes it takes a bit of digging to get to the right size. The tea seller comes by twice a day, and that’s usually when we take a short break. It’s a very traditional way of doing business. We have been in the Cycle Market for a long time, and we like being right where all the action is. It is just a regular shop where we try to get things done.
