Guru Teg Bahadur Marble

Our yard is located on Gurdev Nagar Feorzpur Road. Guru Teg Bahadur Marble has been operating from this spot for a long time. It’s a big space but it always feels full because of the heavy slabs leaning against the walls. There is a lot of dust, that’s just the nature of the business when you’re dealing with stone all day. We wear boots because the ground is often wet or covered in grit. Most days we are moving things around with the crane or helping someone load up their truck. It’s hard work and your back usually feels it by the end of the shift. The traffic on Feorzpur Road is always heavy, so you can hear the trucks passing by constantly. We don’t have a fancy showroom, it’s mostly just the outdoor area and a small office where we keep the paperwork. People come in looking for specific patterns or colors and we walk them around the stacks to see what’s available. Sometimes the edges get chipped and we have to move those pieces to the side. It’s not a glamorous job but it pays the bills and keeps us busy. We know most of the contractors who come through here. If the weather is bad, everything slows down a lot since most of the work happens outside. We just keep the gates open and wait for the next person to drive in. It is just a regular stone yard.
