Gill Sewing Machine Company

We’ve been here at 651 Gill 2nd Main for quite a long time now. It’s a busy spot in the 8th Block, especially with GNE College just around the corner. You can usually hear the sound of the machines from the street when we are testing things out. Most days it’s just us working through a pile of sewing machines that need a bit of help or just a good oiling. People come by mostly because they know where we are, right near the 44th Cross. It isn't a fancy place with big signs or anything. We have parts scattered around and some old machines sitting in the corner that we use for spares. The air gets a bit dusty with all the thread and lint, but that’s just how a sewing shop is. Sometimes the tea guy comes around and we take a break, then get back to it. My hands are usually covered in some kind of grease by noon. It’s honest work and it keeps the neighborhood’s clothes held together, I suppose. We don't spend much time on the computer or doing fancy paperwork. Most of what we do is just looking at the gears and making sure everything runs smooth like it should. If you walk past the college and head towards our block, you’ll find us easily. The shop isn’t much to look at from the outside, but we know every inch of these machines.
