Ganesh Sewing Machine Company

I’ve been working here at Ganesh Sewing Machine Company for a good while now. We are located right at 18 Lakkar Bazar, near Jalahalli Cross. If you’ve walked past the shops there, you probably know the spot. Most of our days are spent fixing up old machines that people bring in when they start acting up or skip stitches. We have a lot of parts lying around for different brands, some new and some quite old. It gets a bit dusty with all the thread and metal bits, but that's just how a workshop is. People from the neighborhood come by when they need a new needle or if their motor stops running. We don’t have fancy displays, just a lot of workbenches and tools. Sometimes it’s a simple oiling job, other times we have to take the whole thing apart to find a tiny broken gear. It’s quiet work mostly, unless we’re testing a heavy-duty industrial model. My hands usually have a bit of grease on them by noon. We try to get things back to people quickly because they often have clothes piled up waiting to be stitched. It’s a small shop, but we’ve got enough space to keep busy. If you’re coming from the main road, just look for the sign near the cross. We’ve seen many different types of machines come through these doors over the years, and each one has its own little quirks that need fixing.
