Our shop is at 1705 Industrial Area A, right on the Link Road. It’s a solid brick building that’s been here for quite a while. We specialize in flat machines, which is a very specific kind of work. It’s mostly about mechanical timing and making sure all the needles and carriages move exactly right. If one thing is off by a millimeter, the whole machine jams up. We spend a lot of time hunched over the iron, adjusting things and testing the tension. It’s the kind of work that requires patience more than anything else. We aren't a big corporation with hundreds of employees. There’s just a handful of us who really understand how these older machines work. We get a lot of guys bringing in parts that are worn down from years of use. We see if we can grind them back to shape or if they need a total replacement. The floor is usually covered in metal shavings and a bit of grease, but we try to sweep up every Saturday. We don't have a fancy showroom. If you want to see what we do, you just come into the back where the work is happening. It’s noisy and it can get hot in the summer, but we’re used to it. We just keep our heads down and do the work that comes in. It's been the same routine here for years and we like the consistency. We just stick to what we know.
