Dashmesh Mechanical Works

Dashmesh Mechanical Works sits right on B-29 G.T Road in Naya Nagar. Being near the Apollo Hospital means there is always traffic and people moving around outside. Sometimes the horns from the trucks on the main road are so loud we can barely hear ourselves speak inside the shop. We do mechanical repairs and part work here. It’s just a regular workshop with tools hanging on the walls and pieces of machines spread out on the benches. We’ve been at this location for a good while now. My hands are usually stained with oil by ten in the morning, and they stay that way until I go home. We don’t have a big corporate team, just a handful of us who know how to handle the lathes and the drills. If a machine breaks down, people bring it over and we see what can be done. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning till evening. We don’t promise things we can’t do. If it’s fixable, we fix it. If not, we tell the customer straight. The tea shop next door is where we get our break, and then it’s back to the noise. It’s a tough environment on G.T Road, but it’s where we belong. We keep the doors open and just get on with the daily tasks. It’s just how we make our living.
