Dashmesh Casting

Over in Shimla Puri, at 2967/2 Janta Nagar, things are usually pretty hot and heavy. Being in the casting business means dealing with fire and molten metal, so our place at Abu Road is not for the faint of heart. It’s a gritty environment. We have the furnaces going, and the air is thick with the smell of the foundry. We spend our mornings preparing the sand molds and getting everything lined up. It’s physical work. You’re lifting heavy things and moving fast when the metal is ready to pour. Janta Nagar is a busy area with a lot of small shops like ours, so there’s always someone stopping by or a delivery truck trying to squeeze through the narrow spots. We don't have air conditioning in the main work area because it wouldn't do much good anyway. By the end of the shift, everyone is tired and covered in a layer of soot. We just focus on getting the pours right so we don't have to redo the work. It’s a simple setup with our equipment and the raw materials piled up in the corners. We aren't trying to be anything we’re not. We just make the castings that people need for their machines. It’s a tough way to make a living, but it’s what we know. We’ve been at this spot for quite a while now and the neighborhood knows us well.
