Civil Draughtsman

Living and working near the engine shed in Ludhiana means you get used to the sounds of the railway pretty fast. My place is at H.No. 115/1 in Railway Colony No:5. I’ve been doing civil draughtsman work from this house for a long time. It’s not like those big corporate offices in the city center; it’s just a quiet corner where I can focus on my drawings. Most of my day is spent with pencils and scales, though I do use the computer for the final versions. The neighbors often see me coming and going to different sites nearby to take measurements. It’s a humble setup, but it works for what people need around here. Usually, it's someone wanting to add a room or fix up an old house, and they need a proper drawing for the work. I like being in the Railway Colony because everyone knows everyone else. Sometimes people just walk in without calling because they saw my light on. I don’t have a big sign or anything, just the work I’ve done for people over the years. The weather in Ludhiana gets really hot, so I try to get the field work done early in the morning before the sun is too high. It’s a simple life, just drawing lines and making sure the walls are where they should be. It’s steady work and I’m glad to be doing it right here at home. I keep my drafting table near the window for light.
