Being out here in Vill. Rattanheri means things are a bit quieter than in the city, except for the sound of our factory. Bindal Steel Tube Pvt. Ltd. sits right off Bhadla Road, and you can see the stacks of tubes from quite a distance. The road can be a bit bumpy, especially when the heavy trucks are moving the steel out. We spend a lot of time checking the sizes of the pipes and making sure they are stacked neatly in the yard. It is a routine that everyone here knows by heart now. In the mornings, you can see the mist over the fields before the machines start up and drown out the sounds of the birds. We have people from the surrounding villages working here, so there is always some local talk going on during the breaks. The warehouse is huge and stays cool in the winter but gets like an oven during the summer months. We don't have a fancy showroom, just the production line and a lot of storage space. Sometimes the power goes out and we all just sit outside for a bit until the generator kicks in. It is just the way things go in this part of the country. We keep things moving as best as we can, day in and day out, on this stretch of Bhadla Road. There is always a lot of clanging and banging as the pipes are loaded up for transport and shipped out to wherever they are going next.
