Bikaner Mishtan Bhandar

You can find us at 194 L near Mintgurnri Chowk in the Model Town area. Bikaner Mishtan Bhandar is a name people know, but we run this specific shop like a small local spot. We get the bhatti started very early when it is still dark outside. Making sweets is a heavy job and it takes a lot of strength to stir the big pots of milk for hours. We have a couple of guys who have worked with us for over ten years now. They do not need a scale to know when the dough is right. The shop has big glass windows that look out onto the street, but they usually get covered in steam in the morning. We have some tables for people to sit at, but they are often covered with boxes we are preparing for orders. It isn't a place for a fancy dinner, just a place to get some sweets. The sign outside has faded a bit over the years and we haven't gotten around to fixing it. We care more about what goes into the boxes anyway. We get our flour and sugar from the same vendors we have used since we opened. It is a lot of hard work and we are usually covered in flour by noon. We do not have a big mission. We just want to finish the day's work and go home to our families.
