About Bengali Sweet House – Food & Beverages in Ludhiana
Our shop is located at number 19 in the Ghumar Mandi Main Market. Being in the main market means it gets quite crowded, especially during the festival seasons. We have been making Bengali sweets here for a good while. The day starts really early for us because we have to get the milk delivered and start boiling it down. We make things like rasgulla and sandesh in the back. The kitchen is always warm from the big vats of sugar syrup. We don't have fancy packaging, just the standard boxes you see everywhere. People come in mostly to pick up boxes for their families or for a small snack while they are out shopping. The display cases are filled every morning. Sometimes the floor gets a bit sticky because of all the sugar, but we try to wipe it down when there's a break in the crowd. Ghumar Mandi is a loud place with lots of people shouting and horns honking. Our shop is just one of the many stores on this street. We don't spend money on big ads or anything. People just know we are here at number 19. The workers have been with us for years and they know the recipes by heart. It’s a lot of manual labor, stirring those big pots, but that’s how the sweets are made. It's just a regular sweet shop in a busy market. We try our best to keep everything fresh. Sometimes we close a bit early if everything sells out.
