We are located at 88-R in Industrial Area B. If you know this part of the city, you know it’s all about the sound of machinery and the smell of metal. Our building is one of many in this row, and it stays pretty busy from sunrise to late evening. The floor is concrete and stays cool even when it’s hot outside, which is nice for the staff. We have our machines lined up, and they’ve been working hard for many years. There’s always a layer of fine dust on the higher shelves that we never quite get around to cleaning. The morning starts with a quick check of the machines to make sure everything is running right. It’s loud, so we mostly talk in short sentences when the power is on. We handle a lot of raw materials and heavy parts throughout the shift. Lunch is usually eaten quickly so we can get back to the production schedule. We aren't big on fancy decorations or anything like that. The walls are just plain brick and the lighting is functional for the tasks we do. Sometimes the delivery trucks get backed up in the lane, which makes for a bit of a headache for everyone. We just deal with it and keep the work moving. It’s a tough environment but it’s what we know. We’ve got our own rhythms and everyone knows their place on the floor. It is just a lot of hard work.
