We are located in the Focal Point area. If you’ve ever been to this part of town, you know it’s where all the heavy lifting happens. Our place is a big, open structure because we deal with steel, and steel takes up a lot of room. There’s a constant sound of metal clanging against metal and the beep of forklifts moving around. It’s a loud environment, but you get used to it after the first week. We aren't big on fancy decorations or comfortable chairs. Most of the furniture in the office is old and mismatched. We focus more on what’s happening out on the floor. Loading trucks is a big part of our day, and sometimes the drivers have to wait a while if we're behind schedule. We try to keep things moving, but with steel, you can't really rush things too much or someone gets hurt. We’ve been here for years, through the good times and the slow times. The crew is a mix of older guys who’ve seen it all and some younger ones who are still learning the ropes. We eat lunch together in a small breakroom that’s always a bit too hot in the summer. There’s no big corporate manual telling us how to act or dress. We just work hard, watch out for each other, and try to get the orders out the gate. It’s a straightforward business and we take it one day at a time.
