Pappu Dhaba

Transport Nagar in Lucknow is a place that never really sleeps. There are always big trucks moving around and the sound of horns is constant. We are located right in the middle of it all. Most of the people who come to see us are drivers who have been on the road for days. They don't want anything fancy, just a place to sit and have a hot meal. We keep things very basic. The tables are sturdy and the food is made in big batches. We’ve been at this spot for years and the address is easy enough to find if you are used to the layout of the transport hub. It gets very hot in the summer, but we have some fans that help a little bit. We don't have a fancy website or a marketing person. It's just us and the kitchen. Sometimes the rain floods the road outside and things get a bit messy, but we stay open anyway. We know the regular drivers by their names or their trucks. It's a rough and ready kind of life here, but it suits us fine. We don't pretend to be anything we aren't. Just a dhaba in Transport Nagar making sure people don't go hungry while they are working. The wooden benches are a bit old but they hold up fine. We just try to get the orders out fast so the drivers can get back to their work.
