Al Baike

Our place, Al Baike, is tucked away in Aliganj on Purania Road. If you are looking for us, we are at A-1/15, quite close to the Purania Gol Chauraha. Lucknow can get incredibly hot in the summer, and the kitchen makes it even hotter, but we are used to it by now. We spend most of our hours over the stove or the grill, prepping things for the lunch and dinner crowds. Sector-H is a busy residential spot, so we see a lot of the same faces every week. It isn't a huge restaurant with a bunch of waiters. It is more of a local spot where people come when they don't feel like cooking at home. The traffic near the Chauraha can be a total mess in the evenings, which sometimes slows down the people coming to pick up their food. We try to keep the place clean, though with the dust from the road, it is a constant battle. We have been here for a bit, and we have seen other shops come and go on this street. We just keep doing our thing, making sure the food is ready when people show up. It is a simple life, mostly just chopping vegetables and making sure the supplies don't run out. We aren't trying to be anything we are not. It’s just a food shop in Aliganj where the lights stay on late.
