Down in Tand Purwa, you can find us at Gulam Rasool's place. G.R.T.N Agro Producer Company is basically just a few of us locals who grew up in Jai Purwa and the surrounding spots like Basheer Ahmad's area. We decided it made more sense to work together than to try and do everything alone. The address is a bit long, but most people around Tand Purwa know where we are. We don't have a big fancy office with air conditioning. It is mostly just a room for storage and where we keep our ledgers. The work is mostly outdoors anyway. We deal with whatever the ground gives us each season. Some years are better than others, which is just the way farming works. We spend a lot of time talking to the other growers and trying to figure out the best way to get the produce sold. It is a lot of early mornings and staying out late when the harvest is ready. We don't have any professional marketing people. We just use our hands and our common sense. If the truck is late, we wait. If the rain comes, we cover the bags. It is practical stuff. We are just regular people trying to keep the farm going and make sure everyone gets their fair share at the end of the day. It’s a quiet life out here and the work never really stops.
