Our place is at No. 12 Banki Salehnagar in Deva. Ak India Msc Food Fruits Processing Industry sounds like a big name, but we’re actually a pretty modest setup. We work with a lot of different fruits depending on the season, so the smell inside changes every few months. Right now, it’s mostly citrus, which is better than some of the other stuff we’ve handled. The floor is made of concrete and we have to wash it down constantly because things get sticky fast. We have some older machines that we’ve learned to fix ourselves when they act up. It’s a lot of manual labor, sorting through crates and making sure things are clean. The staff is mostly local folks from Deva and Salehnagar. We don’t have a human resources department or anything like that. If there’s a problem, we just talk about it over tea. The office is just a desk in the corner of the main room with a ledger and a phone that rings too much. It’s loud and it can get really humid in here during the rains. We don’t have fancy uniforms, just aprons that get stained pretty quickly. It’s a real working environment, not a showroom. We just focus on the fruit and the processing, day in and day out, making sure everything is handled the way it’s supposed to be in our little corner of Deva. It is just basic hard work.
