Renuka Engineering Works

Out here in the MIDC area on Ajanta Road, things are pretty much what you’d expect for an engineering shop. We are at Plot No. G 26, right behind the weigh bridge. That weigh bridge is a good landmark because the trucks are always lined up there, making it easy to find us. It gets a bit dusty and noisy around here with all the industrial activity, but that’s just life in this part of town. We spend most of our time at the workbenches or dealing with the machines. It’s not a quiet office job. We have grease on our hands most days and there’s always the sound of metal or engines in the background. We’ve been operating from this plot for some time now, and we’ve seen the area grow. The sun hits the workshop pretty hard in the afternoon, so we keep the fans going. We don’t have any fancy receptionists or a lobby. People just walk in, find someone who isn't too busy, and talk about what needs fixing or making. It’s honest work, mostly involving parts and repairs. Sometimes the heat in the shed gets to you, but we just grab some water and keep at it. We know the other shop owners around Ajanta Road too. It’s a community of people who actually build and fix stuff. We just focus on getting the engineering tasks finished and making sure the machines are running right.
