Kanthi Agro Farmers Producer Company Limited is run by a bunch of us from around Kaki Morikolong. Prabhat Borah’s place in Vill-Kaki is where we usually coordinate everything. Sankarpur is a bit of a trek sometimes, especially when the weather is bad. We are not a big business with a bunch of managers. It is mostly just us neighbors trying to get the best out of our farming patches. We grow a bit of everything depending on what the season allows. There are plenty of days when we are just sitting around a table trying to figure out how to pay for repairs on the old tractor. We do not have any fancy brochures. If you want to know about us, you just come down to the village and see the fields. It is a lot of bending over and carrying heavy sacks. Some of us have been doing this for forty years, others are just starting out. We try to help the younger guys learn the ropes. Life in Kaki is simple but it is not always easy. We do not have a big marketing budget, so we just rely on the quality of what we grow. It is honest, plain work. We are just trying to keep the farms going and the community together. Every day is different, but the work never really stops for long.
