Darangavalley Farmer Producer Company Limited

Out here in Horotola village, things move at a pretty slow pace. Our group is called Darangavalley Farmer Producer Company Limited. We are located near Patkijuli, in the Tamulpur area, which is part of the Nalbari district in Assam. It’s a beautiful spot, really, but the roads can get pretty muddy when the monsoon hits. We have our little setup in Darangapara. Mostly, we are just a bunch of farmers who thought it would be a good idea to work together. It’s hard to do everything alone when you have to worry about the weather and the markets all at once. We don't have any fancy offices or anything like that. Usually, you can find us standing around the village or meeting up at one of the houses to talk about the crops. Sometimes we argue about when to plant, and other times we just sit and drink tea while we wait for the rain to stop. It’s a practical way of living. We grow what we can and try to make sure everyone gets a fair shake. Life in Nalbari is mostly about the land and what it gives us. We just take it one day at a time and hope for a decent harvest at the end of the season. There’s no big secret to what we do, it’s just farming and trying to stay ahead of the bills. We just do our best with what we have in Horotola.
