Sri Sai Datta Granite

Down here in Dhone, at 5/415, things stay pretty busy with the granite. It’s a dusty job, and there’s no way around that. We spend our mornings checking the stock and seeing what needs to be moved. The stone comes in big blocks or slabs and we have to be careful how we stack them so nothing breaks. It’s heavy stuff. We’ve got a small shed where we keep the paperwork, but mostly we are out in the sun. The noise of the machinery is something you just get used to after a week or two. Sometimes local folks stop by just to see what’s new in the yard. We don't have any big signs or flashy lights. It's just the stone and us. Some days are slower than others, especially when it rains and the ground gets muddy. We have to watch our step then. Loading the trucks takes a lot of time and you have to be precise with the crane. One wrong move and you've got a mess on your hands. We’ve been at this location for a while now and everyone knows where to find us. It’s not a complicated life. We wake up, handle the stone, and go home tired. The stone has its own patterns and no two pieces are exactly the same, which is interesting if you look close enough. We just try to keep things moving and get the orders out to whoever needs them for their houses.
