North India Helpline Tourism is located on Gompa Road in Manali. We have been working out of this small office for quite some time now. Manali is a busy place, and it seems like it gets more crowded every single year. When the tourists start arriving, Gompa Road gets pretty lively with people walking up and down. We spend most of our time at our desks, answering questions and trying to help people figure out where they are going. It’s just a few of us here. We know the local area and the roads throughout North India fairly well because we have lived here most of our lives. Sometimes the weather in the mountains gets a bit unpredictable, and we have to help people change their plans at the last minute. It can be a bit of a headache, but we do our best to manage it. We aren't a big, polished company. Our office is simple, and we usually have a pot of tea going. We’ve seen the town change a lot, with more cars and hotels popping up everywhere. But the mountains around Manali stay the same. If someone needs a hand with their travels, they just walk in. We don’t have a big fancy setup or anything like that. Just some local knowledge and a willingness to chat. Most of the time, we’re just talking about which routes are open or where the best views are. It gets very busy during the summer, but we stay here year-round, even when the winter snow keeps things quiet.
